Being a part of a community and feeling included is very important for people with cognitive delays. There are many circles in which people can be a part of that is centered on developmentally challenged people. To have true community inclusion, they need to be participating in other social groups, and becoming a part of any community takes time, courage, and effort. People with autism often experience social exclusion. But this can be changed as a result of improved practices via our program.
